Could anyone possibly translate the characters on this box? Or is there a good source for finding out how to find the appropriate characters and put them on the computer for translation? I know that online translations aren't always the most correct though.
Also, has anyone tried learning Japanese through Pimsleur? What would be a recommended source for being able to speak some of the language? I'm wanting to vacation there with my wife and want to lea... See more

Hi. On the right side, I read 'Kabin' which means 'flower pot'. It is written in bigger characters and indicates that this is the title. Left lower side, I am not totally sure how to pronounce it (Chinese characters often have multiple ways to pronounce), maybe Komutsu-you, probably a name of ceramic manufacturer from Kyushu region, namely of Arita-yaki ceramics. It seems to be written on the lid of a box, which probably contained the flower pot in question. This type of inscription... See more

This type of inscription on a box is called 'Hakogaki (literally meaning 'written on a box') and its purpose is to authenticate the content.
