I think you're right, Lorena, it's well explained in that link you posted. My only suggestion would be to use "causal" instead of "causa", which I find is more frequently used for "ground" in this context. Would you consider posting perhaps?

My understanding is that we are talking about relief from liability in case of force majeure so I would use exención instead of alivio and dispensa and for seeking I would use solicitar. La parte que solicita la exención...la causa de la exención.

This isn't really English is it? Is it perhaps a machine translation from some other language? The part where it reads "to perform become know to it give written notice" makes no sense at all to me.
