8. EXECUÇÃO DO ENSAIO
8.1 – PREPARAÇÃO DA SUPERFÍCIE
Todas as superfícies ensaiadas deverão estar isentas de óleo, graxas, carepas, escórias e outras substâncias que possam interferir no resultado do ensaio. Para casos onde a inspeção se restringir a uma região da peça do equipamento, a limpeza deverá exceder a área ensaiada pelo menos 25 mm em qualquer direção.
Qualquer irregularidade superficial deverá ser eliminada através de esmerilhamento, lixamento, usinagem ou qualquer outro meio mecânico que não provoque deformação plástica da superfície. Jateamentos abrasivos com granalha ou método semelhante não deverão ser utilizados.
Nota: Para o caso de peças fundidas que venham a sofrer jateamento em função do processo de fabricação, as regiões a serem inspecionadas com líquido penetrante, deverão ser previamente esmerilhadas.
As ferramentas utilizadas para preparação de superfície de aços inoxidáveis ou ligas de níquel deverão ser de aço inoxidável ou revestidas com este material. Os discos de corte dever ter alma de nylon ou material similar.
Durante a limpeza prévia da peça ou equipamento ensaiado, qualquer tipo de solvente, detergente ou solução utilizada, deverá atender aos requisitos estabelecidos no item 6. Nesta fase deve-se evitar o uso de solventes que contenham frações de hidrocarbonetos clorados bem como panos que deixem fiapos ou contenham resíduos oleosos.
8.2 – MODO E TEMPO DE SECAGEM DA LIMPEZA PRÉVIA DA SUPERFICIE
O tempo de secagem deverá ser suficiente para evaporação completa dos solventes empregados, porém nunca inferior a 3 minutos.
8.3 – MODO DE APLICAÇÃO DO LÍQUIDO PENETRANTE E TEMPO DE PENETRAÇÃO
O líquido penetrante será aplicado através de imersão, pincelamento ou pulverização, de acordo com a Tabela 1 de produtos, de modo a cobrir toda a área de ensaio.
O tempo de penetração será função do material que está sendo ensaiado, porém deverá ficar situado entre um valor mínimo de 15 minutos e máximo de 60 minutos.
8.4 – FAIXA DE TEMPERATURA DO ENSAIO
Este procedimento é aplicável para temperaturas de superfície e materiais penetrantes entre 10°C e 52°C.
Os materiais penetrantes deverão ser armazenados em locais arejados e secos, longe dos raios solares. Deverão ser tomados os devidos cuidados, para que a temperatura do local permaneça na faixa especificada acima.

8.TEST EXECUTION
8.1 – SURFACE PREPARATION
All tested surfaces should be free of oil, grease, scale, slag and other substances that can interfere with the test result. For cases where the inspection is restricted to a region of the equipment´s part, the cleaning shall exceed the tested area at least 25mm in any direction.
Any surface irregularity should be eliminated by grinding, sanding, machining or any other mechanical means that does not provoke plastic deformation of the surface. Abrasive sandblastings grit or similar method should not be used.
Note: in case of castings parts that suffer blasting due to the fabrication process, the areas to be inspected with penetrating liquid, must be previously grinded.
The tools used for stainless steel or nickel alloys surface preparation must be made of stainless steel or coated with this material. The cut-off wheels must have nylon or similar material core.
Any type of used solvent, detergent or solution must meet the established requirements in item 6 during the tested part or equipment pre-cleaning. All use of solvents containing chlorinated hydrocarbon fractions should be avoided at this stage as well as lint-releasing cloths or that contains oily residues.
8.2 - DRYING TIME AND MODE OF SURFACE PRE-CLEANING
The drying time should be sufficient for complete evaporation of the employed solvents, but never less than 3 minutes.
8.3 – PENETRATING LIQUID APPLICATION MODE AND PENETRATION TIME
The penetrating liquid is applied through immersion, brushing or spraying, according to the products Table 1, so as to cover the entire testing area.
The penetration time will be in function of the material to be tested, but should be positioned between a 15 minutes minimum and a 60 minutes maximum.
8.4 – TEST TEMPERATURE RANGE
This procedure is applicable for surface temperatures and penetrating materials between 10° C and 52° C.
The penetrating materials must be stored in well-ventilated and dry places, away from sunrays. The proper care should be taken, so that the local temperature remains within the range specified above.

Translating for hobby since 1999, I've decided to take it seriously in 2013, due to free time in my daytime job. I'm a Linguistics/Portuguese Bachelor (BA; First Cycle), graduated in FFLCH/USP (Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas/Universidade de São Paulo), and have worked with various fields of expertise: working full time with the technical field of mechanical engineering for 15 years, from 1997 to 2012, where I had to use softwares, and to deal with customers, both in English and Portuguese, and translating literature, poetry and games as a hobby. I used to work to the governement, as HR Supervisor, and I have decided to take Translation Studies seriously, enrolled in a course at Casa Guilherme de Almeida Museum, one of the most important and renowned translation studies centers in Brazil. Later, I'd decided to do a thorough course at Brasillis, a top-notch translation and interpretation school.
Meanwhile, I'd began this part time job as freelancer translator. Today, I work as a Digital Entrepreneur, Leadership specialist, and cross-cultural expert.
