I disagree with langclinic's response to my comment. Because a computer can be used to perform many different tasks, it is a 'versatile device' but may or may not be dependable. If one depends on something, it does not mean that the 'thing' is dependable. Example: I depend on the public bus service to travel to work but am often late because the service is not reliable.
