detection of parallel arc fault
In the case of parallel arcs, it is difficult to detect a parallel arc because the arcs are often intermittent, unlike a bolted fault, or short circuit, where the surge of current is continuous.
A parallel arc fault is more difficult to detect than a short circuit, or "bolted fault".

corrente di corto circuito di impedenza zero
In the following notes a 3-phase short-circuit of zero impedance (the so-called bolted short-circuit) fed through a typical MV/LV distribution transformer will be examined. Except in very unusual circumstances, this type of fault is the most severe, and is certainly the simplest to calculate. Source- Wiki EIG Electrical Installation Guide
When calculating the prospective short-circuit current in a circuit, to maximize the value, the impedance of the arc is neglected. Notionally, all the conductors are considered connected to ground as if by a metallic conductor; this is called a "bolted fault". It would be unusual in a well-designed power system to have a metallic short circuit to ground but such faults can occur by mischance. In one type of transmission line protection, a "bolted fault" is delibrately introduced to speed up operation of protective devices.
