You can SNAP to the ‘StartPoint’, ‘Midpoint’ and ‘Endpoint’ of an existing entity to specify the position of the line, as shown below:
You can continue to click ‘Next’ until the indicators are on the entity you want to SNAP to; then you can SNAP to its starting point by clicking the ‘StartPoint’ button (or the corresponding ‘EndPoint or ‘MidPoint’ buttons).
To do this, you can SNAP to a point on the existing line with the starting and endpoints and then type in the offset distance - let’s say 1 in the Y axis for example - and the new line will be drawn 1 inch away in the Y direction, in this case (just like offset in AutoCad for those of you who have worked with CAD before).
