I work in an ACE base in Paisley in Renfrewshire. We support children with social and emotional needs ranging from primary 3 to primary 7. We have 12 boys who attend the base and another 10 who are supported in their mainstream schools. Some of the children who are supported also have autism spectrum disorders. Some of the boys have such significant needs that they are unable to attend their mainstream schools.
We have two rooms in the base that the staff and the boys would like to convert into safe, quiet rooms where they can go to reduce their anxieties and stress and allow staff to go in and work with them out of their classrooms.
