German term

Deckhaar

German to English Other Cosmetics, Beauty hairdressing
My context is a list of models, or more accurately model types, for a hair stylists' training session:

Modell 4: Kurzhaar, langes Deckhaar

I know what it means, but suspect that those in the know have a more elegant way of putting it than "long on top" ;-)

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,
Ian

Thanks everyone for the input thus far (and for the link, Nicole).
CHRICKNIC Feb 1, 2006:
Ian, I did not find anything that sounded right. You may want to check out this site - they never mention "long on top" or anything like it. http://www.leestafford.com/uk/thelook/glossary/#gloss_a
They say something about "protective layer"...Good luck
