Accordingly, citalopram did not change the levels of NA and DA in the PFC and Nacc, while in the Hipp the overall deltaAUC value for DA was slightly higher in citalopram-treated anesthetized but not awake rats. Interestingly, a recent study demonstrated that citalopram, did not change the basal DA and NA overflow in the PFC but when given at a higher dose (10 mg/kg s.c.) it increased DA and NA concentrations in the parietal and occipital cortices (Valentini et al., 2005).
