Для этого используется широкий спектр диагностических средств и методов, описанных в патентной и научной литературе. Так, патент США № 5,343,867 раскрывает способ и устройство для ранней диагностики атеросклероза с использованием импедансной плетизмографии для выявления особенностей пульсовой волны в сосудах нижних конечностей. Показано, что параметры кровотока зависят от приложенного к изучаемой артерии извне давления. Максимальная амплитуда плетизмограммы во многом определяется величиной трансмурального давления, представляющего собой разницу между артериальным давлением внутри сосуда и давлением, приложенным снаружи с помощью манжеты тонометра. Максимальная амплитуда сигнала определяется при нулевом значении трансмурального давления.

As of late the need for early cardio-vascular disease detection has become more and more relevant. For this end a wide spectrum of means and methods described in patent and scientific literature is used. For example, the US patent #5343867 describes a method and apparatus for early diagnosis of arteriosclerosis using impedance plethysmography to detect an irregular pulse wave in the vessels of the lower extremities. It is shown that blood flow parameters depend on the outside pressure applied to the artery under investigation. The maximum amplitude of the plethysmograph is in large determined by the size of the transmural pressure, which is defined as the difference between internal arterial pressure and the pressure applied externally by the tonometer cuff. Maximum amplitude is reached when the transmural pressure drops to zero.

L’esca est un fleau connu depuis l’Antiquite. It est cause par deux champignons qui transforment en sciure le cœur du cep. Deux théories s’affrontent a ce sujet : l’une dit que les champignons pénètrent dans le tronc par les plaies de taille humides et récentes, car l’eau leur est nécessaire (les plaies de taille anciennes, desséchées, ne s’infectent pas), et se propagent ensuite en colimaçon jusqu'à l’asphyxie du pied de vigne ; l’autre, américaine et toute récente, tend à prouver que l’esca viendrait du porte-greffe par l’intermédiaire d’un champignon vecteur et remonterait dans le greffon.
Pour moi, en tout cas, l’esca est une maladie qui vient d’en bas, car la zone située en dessous de la partie malade est condamnée. On dit aussi que l’esca ne se propage pas très facilement d’un pied a l’autre. Pourtant, autour d’un pied malade, les vignes semblent dépérir par cercles concentriques, comme si le sol lui-même était atteint. Attention donc aux contaminations possibles !

Esca is a pestilence that has been known since Antiquity. It is caused by two fungi which turn the heart of the vine into sawdust. Two theories exist on how the disease is born: one states that since the fungi need water, they penetrate into the wood through moist, recent pruning wounds (old, dried out pruning wounds are not infected), and grow, spiraling downward, until finally suffocating the bottom of the vine. The new theory, posed by American specialists, suggests that esca comes from the grafting stock through the fungus vector and resurfaces in the graft.
As for me, esca is a disease that comes from below, because the area located beneath the infected part of the plant is also doomed. It is said that esca does not spread easily from vine to vine, and yet, around an infected stock vines seem to wither in concentric circles - as if the soil itself was affected. Therefore, watch for possible contaminations.
