At 9.30am in Luxor’s Valley of the Kings, the sun is high in the sky and inside the famed 63 tombs it’s starting to get humid. This should be peak time for visitors, but there are few footprints in the dust leading to each tomb. About 50 tourists stroll in and out of the tombs, or fan themselves in the shade. “This is about as busy as it gets,” said Aamer Ibrahim, a Luxor native who has worked in tourism all his professional life. He gestured at a spot about 200 metres from the entrance to the tomb of Ramses IV. “People used to have to queue – the line would stretch to there.”
There is a guilty, selfish pleasure in standing alone in the tomb of Tutankhamun, or having the stars and hieroglyphs in the tomb of Ramses IV almost to myself. But for an industry reliant on E£100 (£9) entry tickets to the Valley of the Kings (plus extra to see Tutankhamun’s mummy and gilded sarcophagus), this is a disaster. Egyptian tourism is heavily pegged to its the political fortunes.

في تمام الساعة التاسعة صباحا في وادي الملوك باسوان. تحلق الشمس عاليا في السماء و تزداد الرطوبة بداخل المقابر المعروفة البالغ عددها ثلاثة و ستون. بالطبع هذا الوقت المناسب للزائرين من كل حب و صوب ان يتتبعوا اثار الاقدام وصولا للمقابر الفرعونية . يتدفق اكثر من خمسين سائحا بداخل هذه المقابر لاسيما المعجبين بالحضارة الفرعونية . " انها علي وشك الازدحام " معلقا عامر ابراهيم الذي يعمل بمجال السياحة طوال حياته المهنية و هو من سكان الاقصر الاصليين . اشاد عامر الي منطقة علي بعد من مئتي متر من مدخل مقبرة رمسيس الرابع مخاطبا : " كانت صفوف الانتظار ان تأتي الي هنا " .
تلك اللحظة من الانانية الممتعة عندما كنت اقف وحيدا في مقبرة توت عنخ خامون . بالكاد حصلت علي النجوم و الحروف الهيروغيلفية لنفسي في مقبرة رمسيس الرابع و لكن تقديرا لتلك المشاهد الخلابة تبلغ تذكرة وادي الملوك تسعة جنيهات استرلينية بالاضافة الي جزء اذا كنت تود مشاهدةغرفة الملك توت عنخ امون . تضررت السياحة المصرية نظرا للمشهد السياسي الذي تشهده البلاد.

For hospitalized patients whose death is imminent, palliative care can alleviate distressing symptoms that are common during the last few days or weeks of life. The essentials of such care that are presented in this review are intended to provide both generalists and specialists in fields other than palliative care with a practical, evidence-based approach to alleviating these symptoms in patients who are dying in a hospital. Communication skills that are essential to personalized care and goal setting are described briefly; the alleviation of the psychosocial and spiritual suffering that is often faced by terminally ill patients and their families is addressed only incidentally.
The term “comfort care” is used here to describe a set of the most basic palliative care interventions that provide immediate relief of symptoms in a patient who is very close to death. Typically, these measures are used to achieve comfort for the patient rapidly; diagnostic or therapeutic maneuvers that might be appropriate for palliation in earlier stages of the illness are usually not considered in this context. Many elements of this approach can be used to ease patients’ distress in other phases of a life-threatening illness and in nonhospital settings, and they can also be applied to relieve symptoms in patients with less grave conditions.
