One thing I’ve learned after teaching an assembly language course for over a decade is that support soft-
ware makes all the difference in the world to students writing their first assembly language programs. When
I first began teaching assembly language, my students had to write all their own I/O routines (including
numeric to string conversions for numeric I/O). While one could argue that there is some value to having stu-
dents write this code for themselves, I quickly discovered that they spent a large percentage of their project
time over the quarter writing I/O routines. Each moment they spent writing these relatively low-level rou-
tines was one less moment available to them for learning more advanced assembly language programming
techniques. While, I repeat, there is some value to learning how to write this type of code, it’s not all that
related to assembly language programming (after all, the same type of problem has to be solved for any lan-
guage that allows numeric I/O). I wanted to free the students from this drudgery so they could learn more
about assembly language programming. The result of this observation was “The UCR Standard Library for
80x86 Assembly Language Programmers.” This is a library containing several hundred I/O and utility func-
tions that students could use in their assembly language programs. More than nearly anything else, the UCR
Standard Library improved the progress students made in my courses.

بعد تدريس لغة التجميع لأكثر من عقد تعلمت أمرا مهما وهو أن برامج الدعم تعني الكثير للطلاب الذين يكتبون برنامجهم الأول بلغة التجميع.حيث إنه عندما بدأت تدريس لغة التجميع كان على طلابي كتابة كل توابعهم للدخل والخرج I/O (بما في ذلك التحويل من رقمي إلى نصي لدعم الدخل والخرج الرقمي). بينما كان البعض يدافع عن فوائد كتابة الطلاب لكامل تعليمات برامجهم اكتشفت بسرعة أنهم ينفقون نسبة كبيرة من الوقت المتاح على البحث المتعلق بتوابع الدخل والخرج وكل لحظة يقضونها في كتابة هذه الأجزاء منخفضة المستوى تحرمهم من استخدامها في تعلم أساليب متطورة في لغة التجميع. تساءلت مطولا هل هناك جدوى من تعلم أشياء كهذه ليست من صلب لغة التجميع (كما أن هذه المشكلة محلولة في جميع اللغات الأخرى التي تؤمن وظائف للدخل والخرج). وأردت تحرير الطلاب من هذا العمل المتدني ليتعلموا أكثر عن لغة التجميع. نتيجة المداورة كانت هي UCR (مكتبة لغة التجميع القياسية للمعالج 80x86) التي تحوي مئات من توابع الدخل والخرج والوظائف التي يمكن أن يستخدمها الطلاب لكتابة برامجهم بلغة التجميع. طورت المكتبة أداء طلابي أكثر من أي شيء آخر.

To create a new document you can use the New Y Document icon on the desktop or the command on the Start menu.
Follow these steps to create a new Y document
Double-click the New Y Document icon on your desktop.
Click the tab you want to show in the window that appears.
Double-click the template you want to use for your new document.
You can also create a new document from within the program you are working with.
Note: The Y documents are by default displayed as large icons in the New Y Document dialog box. To view the full document names, click the List button.
Opening an existing Y document
You can access all your Y documents by opening Favorites from the desktop or choosing Favorites from the Start menu. You can also open a document from within the program with which it was created.
Follow these steps to open an existing Y document
Double-click the Favorites icon on the desktop or choose Favorites from the Start menu. The Favorites window appears.
Common Folders contain shortcuts to disks, folders, or documents common to your department or company.
Internet Bookmarks contain the bookmarks you save while working with Internet Explorer.
Personal Folders contain shortcuts to your personal disks, folders, or documents. Here you can add shortcuts to suit your own needs. You find shortcuts to your old documents in Personal Folders.
Note: The folders in Favorites should only include shortcuts, not the original documents.
Show the document you want to open by double-clicking the necessary folder or folders.
Double-click the document you want to open.
