I am fluent and able to read, write and communicate orally in both Danish and English. My native language is Danish, and I have extensive knowledge of Danish grammar and different writing styles. I have achieved high academic education in both languages, thus, able to communicate professionally in both. My work and study experience from various English speaking countries (England, Australia, and Trinidad & Tobago) and other countries have acquired me with extensive cultural knowledge and awareness of cultural differences. I am therefore able to preserve the meaning of the text when translating.
I have a background in Anthropology and have received training in transcription. Through my studies and work, I have conducted almost 100 hours of interviews and transcribed them. My background in Anthropology also provides me with a profound understanding of human's behavior and worldviews.
I have various work experience from different humanitarian organisations, where the working language has primarily been English, but also Danish. Many of my work responsibilities included developing extensive documents, policies, and reports in one of the two languages and translating from one language to the other. The audience of the products have been from different social layers and education levels, I am therefore able to adapt my communication style to the targeted audience.
I am a very organized, proactive, creative, and a self-motivated professional who is extremely passionate about achieving knew knowledge. Moreover, I am a strong and effective communicator and an experienced project manager and decision-maker through my different volunteer positions and previous work experience.I got great experience with the whole research process and have been in charge of research projects from the beginning to the end. Working on projects, I am very organized, time efficient, and meticulous; I therefore got great planning skills and always meet my deadlines.
My research skills also make me able to do the necessary investigation to understand terminology, words, local concepts etc. in order to use those and to provide quality translations.
My personal interests have also provided me with skills and qualities that will be useful as a Freelance Translator. They include the outdoor, especially rock climbing and trekking, furthermore, I enjoy running and I have played high-level handball; I am therefore a skilful team player, good at communicating, and result-oriented. I love travelling and for the past six years I have mostly been abroad, thus, I enjoy learning about new cultures, languages, and people. I therefore have experience with working and interacting with other cultures, I am comfortable and able to navigate in different cultural and environmental work settings, and have a good diverse cultural understanding, which is being enhanced by my anthropological background. Lastly, I am a very creative person, who enjoy thinking outside the box and to employ creative problem solving, and in my spare time I both paint and take photographs.
