Last year, I was on holiday 3 weeks in June, my own choice (2 days only this year)

Four days' work Jul 2, 2010

This June has been one of the worst months ever for work. I have only had the equivalent of four full days' work over the whole month - and I have been available full time including weekends.

A lot higher Jul 2, 2010

June has been a month of bad weather and lots of regular clients with lots of work. Way more work than last june.
I like working in the summer: get out of bed early, spend the morning hours in front of the computer, enjoy summer for a couple of hours and possibly work a bit more in the evening. Also, both regular clients and project managers are less stressed, so the deadlines are not as tight.
It can hardly be called work, can it?...

Same as last year... Jul 2, 2010

This June - just like June last year and the year before - I was incredibly busy and had to turn down quite a few jobs because I just couldn't handle anymore.

On the slow side, but still far better Jul 2, 2010

June 2009 was really slow. I had no work at all that month. I had a few interpreting assignments in June 2010, so my workload was far higher than last year. Every little bit helps.

I actually had to turn down a couple of very interesting projects because I had to travel for an interpreting assignment.

Extremely lower, but ... Jul 2, 2010

Yes, extremely lower : only 1 "real" job (and a dozen of indecent or silly job proposals, most of the time outside my scope of expertise. Don't people read our resumés, do they? ).

BUT ... with my long experience, I can tell you that, AFA my specialty and my pairs of languages are concerned, this situation systematically occurs every four years. Guess why ?

The answer : the World Cup !

Don't know exactly why, but it is a fact, at least in my case.

I voted "other" because I do not make such comparisons.

Last year was definitely slower with the recession....however, the last week or so has been VERY quiet! i was working on a very big project through most of may and had to turn away a few jobs. I didn't mind the slow period because I welcomed the rest...I think it's due to the time of year. It was a holiday here and in the US as well...I don't know if the World Cup has much to do with it!! Higher Jul 3, 2010

My June turnover was 30% higher in 2010 compared to 2009, but still lower than April and May 2010.
