I can't resist! Jul 11, 2010

These days I get most of my terminology help from the Internet and KudoZ colleagues, but I still can't resist growing my hardcopy collection.

I replaced one of my everyday dictionaries that was falling apart, bought a more recent edition of another one; and added new titles to my collection.

I have more than 10 but don´t use them that much. I tend to use online dictionaries instead...

None, though sometimes it's very hard to resist Jul 11, 2010

I have a vast collection of dictionaries in the bookshelf and I love to look at them and to read them (when I have time).
But I discovered that lately I can find in the internet virtually all I need for work. There is hardly any need to consult a paper dictionary so I don't buy anymore...

I've bought three... Jul 11, 2010

but only because I took the DipTrans exam in January, and wasn't allowed to bring a computer! I almost exclusively use the Internet for work. I also move a lot, and it is difficult to bring large books from country to country.

I have two paper dictionaries for my language pair, and the rest are online.

Though I have had three of my most worn and tattered ones rebound in the last two years. Like many other colleagues here, I tend to use online resources more for translating. But I still love my books!

electronic 1 Jul 12, 2010

I finally got myself an electronic multi-language dictionary... Not that I need it that much, but it comes handy (not as handy as I wish though) when Internet is down.... and I don't think i'll buy anything else soon since everything is online

I am like Muriel Jul 12, 2010

I can't resist! I am attracted like a magnet... But in the last 12 months I only bought four! This is a sure sign that I am on the right track (for now, I mean...).

Two Jul 12, 2010

One was a dictionary of Classical Chinese (文言文) for myself; the other was the Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary (8th Edition) as a gift for a friend's son who's studying in the UK.

2 and would buy more if there were available... Jul 13, 2010

Yes, you guessed it, I am addicted to dictionaries and reference books....

I have about all the Afrikaans dictionaries that are available on the market, and I am always on the lookout for more to buy. I still love paging through a real book, even though the internet is so available and practical.:)
