Translation Degree Apr 4, 2011

No official one so far, however, I have learned English and Spanish since very little and have a very deep cultural background, which allowed me to learn a lot during all those years, which something I value the most in the "translation world". Also, I have translated many things for personal uses or to help my family or friends in any way, that was before I started officially working as a Translator.
I am currently studying a Translation Degree (Bachelor level).

Meant to be a scientist Apr 4, 2011

Spent way too much time in college, getting several degrees in biochemistry, genetics, development and biotechnology.

As a child I travelled extensevely and learned French and English besides my native Spanish.

My father was a translator and he showed me the ropes and introduced me to his clients.

I later on got a master's in translation, just in case.

I have never looked back. Translation is a great career.

Hugs,
Lucía

Language and Translation Studies also with field studies Apr 4, 2011

I'm a bit of a hybrid as I did language studies, with a MA in Translation and an LLB (in French law) so I've got a field study degree and a translation degree with a background of language studies couple with law

Language studies (and then some) Apr 4, 2011

I have a translator degree in economics, both English (US) and German, though mainly for the "papers" (which Germany panies comvalue so much) since I've been studying American for several years prior.

I've worked in Civil Engineering during my "employment" years and so
gained the technical knowledge, studying Spanish (and a few others)

Degree in Architecture Apr 4, 2011

This was followed, after becoming Mum to 2 girls, by Vocal Studies and years of research into medieval music.

French (and other languages) always played an important role in my music, but had I known I'd end up using it as the language of my everyday life and work, I might have studied it more seriously sooner!

Alison
