Um, yes...

I do have a couple of other "professions", but these flow into my translation tasks.

Er.... more or less the same as Michael. I suppose it depends on how you define a "profession".

I said yes, but... Dec 4, 2013

Thinking again, my profession as translator is diversified; I am an Interpreter and a Translator. I firmly think that Interpreting is a different profession to that of Translating.

Does anyone agree?

Nigel.

Interpreting is very different to translation and I can't do it. I think interpreting is far more difficult than translation and I always get annoyed when people confuse the two

I love translating as I can do it at my own pace, and I don't have time or energy to do any other kind of job. I would hate to have to go back into a "normal" job, so if I could not do translation anymore I would probably go cleaning or something outside of an office job.

But as long as my brain can function, I will remain a happy translator

Translation has been my main source of income since I left the world of professional wrestling, but I also work from time to time as a professional mountain bike guide, hedgelayer and breakdancer

And then of course there's my secret work for the government but I'm not allowed to talk about that

I also give a couple of private English classes a week. Although I'd only consider returning to teaching English fulltime if under some type of severe torture, I enjoy dealing with these two students and get a bit of a break from sitting in front of the computer all day.

I am first and foremost an interpreter, and I hope to do less and less translation as the years go by. So I do have two professions, after all

It's my only source of income.

I do other work but as a volunteer so it wouldn't really count as a profession I suppose.

Not now Dec 4, 2013

I have just finished my master´s degree in translation so I still do not work as a professional translator, but I have been working as a volunteer translator for some companies. Currently I am working as an English teacher.

I am first and foremost an editor and proofreader. Dec 4, 2013

My proficiency in English, coupled with my knowledge and understanding of Dutch and my writing skills, lends itself well to translation, which I do just as well as I edit and proofread.

I am a bit of a landlord as well, but I suppose that's not really a profession ...

As my chosen profession translation is my bread and butter, but I do write the occasional article for a daily newspaper in my former homeland.

From time to time I also provide services as attorney-at-law, as this was my main profession after I graduated Law school in 2004.
The translation activity prevails now due to personal reasons.

Yes, absolutely Dec 4, 2013

I've been working 11 hours a day including weekends for the last 3 months, so the idea of doing something else in addition to translating doesn't cross my mind.
