Why is "family, friends and neighbours" not an option? Being a freelancer doesn't automatically mean you live like a hermit. | | | neilmac スペイン Local time: 22:45 スペイン語 から 英語 + ...
As sparingly as possible. Socialising is over-rated IMHO. | | | neilmac スペイン Local time: 22:45 スペイン語 から 英語 + ... Different strokes... | Jul 1, 2017 |

I’m no longer the highly social animal I used to be, with age I have changed a lot and became sort of an introvert. I love being alone and I never feel lonely, but I would vote for “Family, friends and neighbors”...
I cannot identify with most of the suggested options. However, apart from my daily e-relationship with friendly PMs, there are my neighbors, friends, swim hall, church activities, various conferences, presentations, open university courses, classical music club, musical performances......the list goes on. On top of that, I live in the center of a suburb to Copenhagen. How could I feel isolated? | | | A combination | Jul 1, 2017 |
Mostly family, friends, and neighbors. I am active in my homeowners association (721 homes), attend two exercise classes a week, meet people when I walk my dog every day, belong to a dinner club where we speak Spanish, participate in events for independent authors, host a monthly support group and a seminar on the Enneagram of Personality ... For 7 years I also attended classes in plants and design and certified as a landscape designer--lots of classmates and socializing at the two schools I attended. Also, I have a ton of long-distance friends: friends from the past (keeping in touch on Facebook and via e-mail), former colleagues (LinkedIn and e-mail), and current cyber colleagues (ProZ and e-mail). Between translating 6 to 8 hours a day and keeping up with everything else, my main challenge is finding time for myself.

There should be another option: "I don't."

I talk to myself. I have lots of mirrors all over the house. You'd be amazed at the interesting conversations I have with all those lookalikes on the other side. I particularly like the oval Victorian one - it shows me in sepia. I don't have to go out and get a tan now, do I. | | | What is socializing? | Jul 1, 2017 |
Totally exhausted (in a pleasant way) by a holiday meeting family in the UK... when the highlight was a gathering of 19 members of the clan, 3 couldn't make it. Trying to decide which blouse to wear to a neighbour's birthday party next week. The annual powwow... No, I don't socialize if I can avoid it!! Although I have to admit I enjoy it when forced, and it is sometimes a fine excuse to cook som good food.
Children - school - kindergarten - It is amazing how many messed up parents you get to meet, but the few we have "filtered" out are really good friends in the mean time and when we all have time to meet then we do have a good time. We even have mutual holiday trips - 1 week skiing, trekking on the weekends, etc.
My kids go to school so I go out for dinner with the parents I go to the gym I had a part-time job as a teacher, and I met a huge number of people and some of them became friends my wife was born where we live, so all her friends became my friends

I meet most of my clients in person. Also I am on airbnb so I meet a lot of people thanks to that.
Family life, meeting friends, singing in a choir, chatting with neighbours and with other parents at school and online contacts with colleague freelancers
