I don't use CAT tools...

P.S. Some of my clients export the translated file for me to revise it.

Access vs. a license May 24, 2023

Well, if "access" means that they send you a username/password (that you don't have to pay for separately) for an online system that you can't get a username/password for by yourself, then yes, quite a few. Another type of "access" is if they give you a username/password for a system that you could, theoretically, get your own username/password for by yourself (without paying anything), but they want you to use their account. Or, sometimes I can get a username/password for free, but the username/password that is provided by the client is a "pro" account that offers more features.Collapse

No, but I have clients who promote certain CAT tool upgrades listing consequences for me in case I don’t upgrade. Paid promotion perhaps?

None of them pays for anything, they want me to pay.

Looks like someone saw my response to the poll yesterday and wondered who else was in my situation.
Yes I have one client who sends me their floating licence to use their CAT tool. I have found MemoQ very easy to work with and the staff were very helpful when I was getting started, so I feel competent at it.
One day I might just get a licence for myself, if the need arises, but since the only type of work I'm interested in really doesn't justify using a CAT tool, it's highly unlik

It's a memoQ license. I think it's the best CAT tool to translate video games "online" - with, say, two translators and one reviewer working on the same project.

I only tried that once (MemoQ) but I disliked the idea of them being able to see what I was doing. So I'll never accept that kind of work again.
