One task at a time Dec 30, 2023

I've got a lot of work on my hands at the moment, but I cannot handle more than one task at a time. Today I’ll be translating ES-PT a large legal project (35,000 words) to be delivered on the 12th January. I’m also booked for a new update to an audio guide translation I did 5 years ago (FR-PT).

A few projects Dec 30, 2023

Several small jobs and one large project to be finished by the end of next week.
Enjoying the relative quiet. Catching up with study in areas related to work.

Enjoying this peace and quiet - immensely Dec 30, 2023

I always look forward to this period in London (25 Dec - 02 Jan) because the city goes quiet. There's almost no traffic. Everyone is away desperately seeking happiness. No emails. Time to think and explore authors I hadn't got round to.

Beautifully Dec 30, 2023

All plans for 2023 have been fulfilled, I can barely believe it myself. I overplanned, overscheduled, overworked and overachieved, including condo remodeling, but it's all done! I just didn't stop no matter what. 5 days on the Mexican beach in December saved my sanity.

All plans for 2023 have been fulfilled, I can barely believe it myself. I overplanned, overscheduled, overworked and overachieved, including condo remodeling, but it's all done! I just didn't stop no matter what. 5 days on the Mexican beach in December saved my sanity.

Last work day or, rather, night ended on the morning of the 29th, not a beep to expect until January 8th after my Christmas, fully booked until March with proper breaks and, strictly speaking, after that too. All I need is to stay in good health and have my 17-year old kitty running, everything else can be bought:-) and I can start a year with only very modest and relaxing personal plans. More reading is first on the list as I hope to have much more time for it, and I no longer strain my eyes with serious translation loads. I have been really bad in the reading department lately. A leap year is coming, gotta be careful:-). In a way, that was one of the reasons I pushed myself so hard. I am a bit superstitious.

One can say that life has a nasty habit of making its own corrections but I'm not about to give in to any dismal thoughts or expectations. Will be crossing the bridges as they emerge.

Happy New Year, everyone!
