Greetings to all!

Does anyone know whether there is some base/list of boutique translation agencies on the Web?

I tried to use ProZ and LinledIn search, but there are no appropriate filters for this.

Some Google search tips, except for quotes maybe?

PS. ProZ didn't let me to choose "Translation agencies" topic for some reason, so I chose the adjacent subject. Moderators, sorry f

Many agencies are members of associations such as https://www.euatc.org/. Their member associations have lists of member agencies. Other countries also have their own associations. You can also search business directories such as https://www.kompass.com/

How do you define a boutique translation agency?

PS. ProZ didn't let me to choose "Translation agencies" topic for some reason, so I chose the adjacent subject.

That's because the "Translation agencies" subforum is a subforum FOR translation agencies, not a subforum ABOUT translation agencies, and you're not a translation agency.

I see your problem, Andrey Apr 2, 2019

I would have expected to be able to search the Translation Agencies and Companies directory in various ways. You really need the directory to hold counts of language pairs and industries ("sectors" seems more appropriate) offered. Then you'd be able to select the ones that specialise in just a few languages and/or sectors. They'd be the boutique agencies.

You can specify a search term, e.g. "Boutique", but that doesn't seem too effective as it only brings up 7 entries. In your pair,

A wrong move? Apr 3, 2019

Andrey, I understand that a translator--as a sensible businessman--may [further] diversify the income sources via different activities and variations, new specialization/language pairs, let alone new services--from re/copywriting and transcreation to interpreting, consulting, mentoring and so on. Why, one can even start own translation agency too.

Let's take a statement--
DZiW is different from Andrey ==> [true]
DZiW is a man ==> [true]
Therefore, Andrey is different from a man
, which is false.

However--
End client is different from an agency ==> [true]
End client is one who pays well to have the job done well ==> [true]
Therefore, any agency is very different from any end client
is true for new low rates and unfavorable terms from new middlemen of middlemen.
An imaginary "fashionable translation" fallacy, IMO.

Having been successfully working with a few local direct clients and their biz partners, I can't help wondering why instead looking for real end clients paying timely and fairly for the good job, you (and most freelancers) are looking for lousy "boutique" middlemen?
