"What is Game Localisation?"

Video game controllerMiguel Á. Bernal-Merino
Lecturer in Media Translation, Roehampton University London

Multimedia entertainment software comprehends a wide variety of products from the educational to the purely recreational.

This lecture concentrates specifically on those products widely available to the general public that we normally call video games.

We will start with a brief overview of the game industry and then explain and analyse the very important role game localisation companies and translators play in this multimillion industry.

The presentation will make use of a wide array of examples in order to illustrate major issues and current practice in game localisation.
