Hello Richard,

I still have the Aliph Jawbone you recommended some years ago on Proz. What do you think about it today?

The Flexmike would be an option. But there is never a possibility to try which type of micro fits you best. You cannot find them in normal electronics shops.

Best regards

Noe

Nuance recommendations Sep 29, 2010

Noe,

Unfortunately, you REALLY have to take Nuance recommendations with a grain of salt. The Andrea Electronics NC-181 is the OEM microphone that comes bundled with DNS Pro, Medical and Legal. Although this microphone is significantly better than the $5 microphone that's included with DNS Preferred, it still only retails for about $25 and shouldn't be considered more than a starter microphone. The reason why Nuance gives it 6 Dragons is because they bundle it in with their software.

If you look up the rating on the Andrea Electronics ANC 700 microphone (their Cadillac) you'll see that it only garners a rating of 4 Dragons which is unfortunate because the microphone is significantly better than the NC-181. We are Nuance resellers and we don't even offer the NC-181 because it doesn't meet our standards. The ANC 700 does meet our standards, is twice as good as the NC-181 but is on the lower end of our recommendations.

Hello,

thanks for sharing your experience, but it seems not so mobile this configuration and in the end it's not so cheap either. The microphone is the less expensive in the bundle.

Kind regards

Noe
