Adding background color to subtitles

Hello there,

I am trying to add background color to my subtitles. I need to use blue font, but the video has a black background which makes it almost ilegible, that's why I'd like to change it into a white background.
At the moment I'm using .avi for video and .stl for the subs, and subtitle edit, but can't find the way of doing it.

Is it possible to do with Subtitle Edit?
