Daunt said his vision for Waterstone's was a return to the model of local expertise that drove the chain's spectacular growth after it was founded in 1982. Thanks for that interesting post about the launch of that Russian bookstore in UK.
As a parallel wish, would that Viktor Kamkin's Russian bookstore, or a successor, made a comeback here in the US. That was the only know foreign outlet for Russian and bilingual publications by the Academy of Sciences of the [then ] USSR, aka by the Russian acronym "AN SSSR." Some of the Russian-Arabic references, especially textbooks and specialized glossaries, were/are really-unique and rare jewels of... See more
