I have had many strange questions from translation agencies when filling in their forms, but this one is totally new to me: a CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) certificate. (????)

What exactly is it, and why should I need one anyway?

Perhaps more can be learned about the need for translators to acquire CTC from the following https://www.gov.uk/guidance/security-vetting-and-clearance at least in the case of U.K.
