Ciao a tutti!
Sto lavorando per un cliente che mi ha richiesto di mantenere il file originale così com'è, aggiungendo semplicemente la traduzione delle parole.
Per dare un'idea, si tratta di un libro per bambini, con immagini accompagnate dalle parole che le descrivono.
Un esempio di testo è questo:
la policière =
le feu =
la boîte aux lettres =
le courrier =

Di solito uso OmegaT (ma ho anche a disposizione SDL Studio Trados 2015), ma in entrambi i casi non so come gestire le liste di parole in qualità di documento finale (e non come glossario!).

if your text file is a list with linebreaks like this:
la policière
le feu
la boîte aux lettres
le courrier
you could try copying it into Excel, so it becomes one Excel column, then translate the Excel sheet in your CAT tool and save the target text as an Excel file.
Now construct an Excel sheet like this: The text from original file (1st column), a column full of = (2nd column) and a column with your target text... See more Hi Serena,

Sorry, I can answer you in italian or in french, but my english it is not good enough for writing...
La soluzione con excel mi sembra un po' macchinosa, penso che il tempo guadagnato con un cat tool sarebbe forse persino inferiore a quello che impiegherei per trasformare i file in excel, raggrupparli e poi ritrasformarli.
Inoltre, anche fosse in excel, un cat tool mi sostituirebbe comunque la dicitura originale, che invece deve restare.... See more Thanks for your answer,

Inoltre, anche fosse in excel, un cat tool mi sostituirebbe comunque la dicitura originale, che invece deve restare.
Infatti, il risultato finale dovrebbe essere:
la policière = la poliziotta
le feu = il fuoco
la boîte aux lettres = la buca delle lettere
le courrier = la posta
il tutto in file txt di piccole dimensioni, corrispondente ad ogni pagina dell'imagier.
0101.txt, 0102.txt, 0103.txt etc (per un totale di 16 album e 25 concetti per ognuno)
Che ne dite?

se qualunque CAT tool sballa l'impaginazione e/o non mantiene cose che invece dovrebbero esserci, la soluzione migliore è non usare un CAT tool per fare questo lavoro. Dopotutto, alla fine si tratta di una lista di parole molto comuni, non sarebbe neanche il caso di mettere su un progetto di traduzione con relativa memoria

The issue is nothing to do with a CAT tool messing up formatting, but all to do with the fact that the translated file exported by the CAT tool will replace the source text with the translation, since that's what a CAT tool does, while Serena needs to have several files with a "source = target" format.
Since Serena is dealing with a lot of isolated expressions, I guess using a CAT tool would have been useful both in case of repeated words/expressions and to keep consistency.
The solution Ricki suggested would've worked perfectly in case of a single file, but would in fact require quite a lot of time in case of several small files...

That's true - I'm such a CAT-tool addict, I would do it anyway, but not everyone is.

In OmegaT, press Shift + Ctrl + R to insert the source text, then press Ctrl + I to insert a match from a translation memory or type in a translation. Is it what you want to achieve?

Serena, this is all but an optimal solution, but perhaps you could work by copying the source text into the target segments (maybe OmegaT has a specific shortcut/option for that, as other CATs) and then adding your translation after the "=". You would get a "bad" TM (or better, a specific TM for this specific client...), but the output should be what you're looking for.
P.S. This of course becomes a pain when spell-checking...

I think I did that too on a couple occasions in the past, but only for isolated files, if I remember correctly. If I had dozens of files, that would become a pretty time consuming chore... If that were the case, I would probably discuss it with the client and try to reach some kind of compromise, like importing everything in the same Excel sheet, marking the end/start of each file, then translating it the way you suggested and sending it back to the client like that (or in the corresponding txt format).

In effetti, come dice Mirko, benché le parole siano semplici (e come ha fatto giustamente notare Serena, non vale la pena farci una mt) capita che siano ripetute, di qui l'esigenza di un cat tool.
Proverò la soluzione di esperantisto e di Mirko, mi sembrano buone idee!
Ovvio che se poi non riuscissi a farla funzionare a dovere, magari ascolterò il consiglio della mia omonima e continuerò la traduzione "a mano"...

allora qualche aggiornamento...
In effetti la soluzione proposta da esperantisto e Mirko funziona bene (dopo aver correttamente impostato la segmentazione!), ma ho dei problemi riguardo alla codifica (non so che codifica usi OmegaT -UTF8?- ma in ogni caso non è la stessa dei file txt) e riguardo allo scorrere dei file.
OmegaT inizia da 1001 e non da 0101...il che mi sballa lo scorrere delle immagini (sto usando un secondo schermo per vedere le immagini di cui dev... See more Ciao a tutti,
