This is an aquafitness class where moms can work out while their children are in an "aquapoussette" -- presumably a carriage than can be pushed through the water?

: This a good way of getting around the "cours d'..." (well it would be if "Mummy" was spelt correctly ;-)) although for the device, Image-Googling "Baby float" gets plenty of hits./I was just "kidding"!

Comment: "This is the kind of term that most fitness clubs use. I have seen no fitness clubs advertise aquastroller or water stroller courses, so I am awarding the points to Mara. Ultimately, I opted for "Aquafitness for Parents and Tots" because this course was actually open to parents and their tots (6 mos-3 yrs). I would add that the course is not really about using the flotation device, so the French term is a bit of a misnomer to begin with."

since pousssette = stroller (GDT) a water stroller would be an aquapoussette - though the other answer is also very good

Although the term only found one hit, it is definitely said and understood. Look at the reference below. It is used by a woman in a very natural manner in this forum.
Does "Mommy and Baby Aquafitness" always imply the use of an "aquastroller" for the baby?
Barely getting any hits online does not mean the term is awkward or incorrect.

| I really appreciate your help and understand your point. Interestingly, there is a company called Aqua-Stroller and its product is called the aqua-stroller (TM). However, the classes are not really about using the device; the flotation device keeps the child out of harm's way and might provide some enjoyment for the tot. If the term you propose were in use, fitness clubs would be employing it on their Web sites. They don't appear to be doing this. This is why I am leaning toward Mara's answer. |
