Most of my new clients now come from ProZ.com, and I have to say that fine-tuning my profile has generated some pretty good "matches" (clients that are willing to pay my rates for specific subject areas). I think ProZ.com is a great source of new clients and it is also hugely helpful in avoiding bad payers.

This past year has been great. I woke up one morning deciding to go back to translating full time but I was not 100% sure that my decision was the right one. I left my "safe" English teaching job and recontacted my old clients. It didn't take long and I was soon back on track. Thanks to ProZ I have made contacts with new agencies around the world. I have met colleagues worldwide and found new friends... Words are my passion and this is the ideal job for me with growing children who love to see me around. Proz.com membership opened up the world for me, and within a couple of years I managed to obtain an extensive international clientele. Throughout the years I met many interesting people.

After being a user "for free" for a couple of years, I decided to try by paying my membership for a year, and the result was awesome. I receive at least 2 messages from new clients monthly.

J’apprécie également la possibilité de pouvoir obtenir des informations sur les agences de traduction et les donneurs d’ordre en général grâce au Blue Board (certes non exhaustif, mais ô combien utile !), et de l’aide en cas de besoin avec les KudoZ. The site definitely helped me to extend my business as a freelancer. This surely helped me to "make much more money" than I earned before registration at the site. And I guess I am not the only one who met clients and established new business relations via ProZ.com.

I have been a member since 2004 and I renew every year. I have been a member of Professional Plus since the first year. I find it's a good publicity for me and Plus offers many services that are quite useful. I also use the terminology. I never look for jobs on their platform, but I receive many requests from potential outsourcers, almost every day, ready to pay what I ask for. I translate for the French Canada market, which happens to be a very vibrant market that attracts many American, and European companies as well as Asian. Every product that is imported must be translated into French for the Quebec market (not French from France) along with all government texts because there are two official languages in Canada. It’s paradise for translators.
