That's odd! The French looks OK to me, but the English doesn't as one would expect the verb "to extend", rather than "to expand", in that context.

@ Asker It could be argued that there is a nuance of meaning between 'expand' and 'extend' (étendre); were we not talking about 'roots', we'd probably say that a company would 'développer'.
In a way, the problem is that the source text isn't awfully good in EN anyway, and I don't believe the verb 'expand' is used very widely with 'roots'; we are more likely to talk about things like 'putting down roots' or 'spreading roots'.
I suspect in fact in FR you might need a different word for 'the root system', just as we have 'ramure' for 'branches'; and you perhaps need to anaylse exactly what they are trying to say in the source text: is this increasing the number of countries in which they have a presence? Is it about giving the company sturdier roots by having them in more than one country?
I suspect they have slightly mixed their metaphors here — perhaps what they were seeking to say is that "the company is expanding by putting down roots in other countries", for example.
