Co to jest wilkierz?
Wilkierz (daw. niem. Willkür – samowola) – uchwała (lub zbiór takich uchwał) rady miejskiej w dawnej Polsce, w miastach lub wsiach lokowanych na prawie niemieckim[1]. Wilkierze, zwane także statutami miejskimi, rada miejska wydawała samodzielnie lub przy udziale ławy sądowej, albo reprezentacji pospólstwa (złożonej ze starszych cechów).
Wilkierze regulowały sprawy targowe, cechowe, bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego, a także sprawy z zakresu prawa cywilnego i karnego. W miastach królewskich wilkierze zatwierdzał król lub jego urzędnik, zaś w miastach prywatnych właściciel miasta (pan feudalny). W ten sposób prawo w każdym mieście kształtowało się w swoisty sposób. Wzorem dla miast polskich były wilkierze Magdeburga.
KONTEKST:
Hodowla zwierząt w mieście wymagała pewnych regulacji. Działania takie podejmowały władze miejskie w wydawanych przez siebie wilkierzach. Nieliczne zachowane tego typu źródła dla miast badanego obszaru dotyczą głównie organizacji wypasu bydła.

Magdeburg urban law, called Weichbild by the Germans and Ius municipale by the Poles, is in fact the wilkierz of the town of Magdeburg, taken over from the Speculum Saxonum; it does not have all the things that can be found in Speculum Saxonum; it is shorter and easier to read. But there is nearly everything in the books of Speculum Saxonum which I have presented in Polish in alphabetical order.

In addition to municipal charters, general town bylaws (Wilkuhr) were among the most important documents regulating life in a town. They were collections of rules which governed the conduct of local communities. The Wilkuhr was drafted by the local inhabitants upon the consent of the authorities

Rozprawa doktorska z University of Exeter. Autorka Ewa Wójcik używa niemieckiego określenia Willkür. Przy pierwszym wystąpieniu dodaje objaśnienie "the Willkür (that is, the local law acts)". Określenie "wilkierz" tylko w przypisach i bibliografii.
