The role of the Workplace Ombudsman is to impartially assist and enforce compliance with Commonwealth workplace laws including the Workplace Relations Act 1996, the Independent Contractors Act 2006 and associated regulations.
The Workplace Ombudsman, his Office and his Inspectors provide the following services to workers and employers in Australia:
assist workers and employers to understand their rights and obligations under federal workplace law;
promote and monitor compliance with federal workplace law, including by providing assistance and advice and disseminating information;
investigate complaints or suspected contraventions of federal workplace law;
inquire into any act or practice that may be contrary to federal workplace law;
institute proceedings to enforce federal workplace law;
represent workers who are, or might become, a party to proceedings under the Workplace Relations Act 1996.

Source text - Indonesian Pergantian Perdana Menteri Inggris dari Tony Blair ke Gordon Brown rupanya tak luput dari perhatian Andy Roddick. Namun petenis AS itu melihat momen tersebut sangat lucu.
Kemarin, Rabu (27/6/2007), adalah hari terakhir Blair menempati kediaman resmi PM Inggris di Downing Street 10. Televisi Inggris beramai-ramai meliput detik-detik kepergian sekutu George Walker Bush tersebut.
Roddick adalah satu dari mungkin jutaan orang di Inggris yang menyaksikan peristiwa itu. Tetapi mengapa dia malah tertawa?
"Mereka mengambil gambar van yang mulai bergerak dan mengikutinya sampai hilang di balik jalan. Saya melihatnya sangat lucu," ungkap petenis berperingkat tiga dunia itu seperti dikutip Yahoo Sports
Dikatakan oleh Roddick, liputan seperti yang dibuat media Inggris tidak pernah dilihatnya di tanah kelahirannya. "Sepertinya televisi di negeri kami harus mulai begitu juga. Itu akan sangat lucu," paparnya.
Namun Roddick rupanya hanya peduli dengan hal ringan dari peristiwa politik luar biasa di Inggris tersebut. Buktinya saat ditanya pendapatnya soal PM Inggris yang baru, mantan kekasih penyanyi Mandy Moore itu memilih tak berkomentar banyak.
"Saya tak mau berpura-pura tahu banyak soal pandangan politik Gordon Brown. Saya pikir saya memilih untuk tak memedulikannya. Tapi saya penggemar berat gambar pergerakan van," kelakarnya.
Translation - English The changeover of British Prime Minster from Tony Blair to Gordon Brown did not apparently escape the attention of Andy Roddick. Yet, the US tennis player considered it hilarious.
Yesterday, Wednesday (27/6/2007), was Blair’s last day at the official PM residence, number 10 Downing Street. British television competed to cover the departing moments of the ally of George Walker Bush.
Roddick is one of perhaps millions of people in England who witnessed the event. But why did he laugh instead?
“They took pictures of the moving van, following it down the street until it was lost from sight. I thought it was hilarious,” said the third ranked tennis player in the world as quoted by Yahoo Sports.
Roddick said he had never seen coverage like the English media in his home country. "Maybe our television should begin doing this too. It would be very amusing”, he said.
However it seems that Roddick only cared about the lighter side of this extraordinary political event in Britain. As proven when asked his opinion of the new British PM, the former boyfriend of singer Mandy Moore chose not to say much.
"I don’t want to pretend to know much about Gordon Brown’s political views. I guess I choose not to care about them. But I am a serious fan of that moving van footage, “ he joked.
