Bio
Awhile back, I graduated from college with a degree in German language and literature. I more-or-less abandoned those pursuits for a career in the world of books in English. Ultimately, I became a senior member of the editorial staff at Time-Life Books, overseeing the creation of all manner of non-fiction—history, science, and highly-profitable how-to book series like Home Repair and Improvement.

Some years ago, I returned to German. After refurbishing my skills, I found that my long experience in writing and editing English makes all the difference between a translation that sounds like a word-substitution exercise and a translation that sounds like English.

Judge for yourself. Go to www.germantranslation.cybrations.com to see some recent translations, showing the English alongside the German source.

I price translation work at USD 0.12 per word as counted by Microsoft Word. This rate applies to documents that come to me as Word or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files, as long as the PDF is not an image of a document. That is, it must contain searchable text.

Documents that arrive in any other format incur a re-formatting charge of USD 25 per hour. Reformatting can be costly; sometimes, it’s all but impossible.

If you think that I might be of service to you, send an email to [email protected]. Describe the source text and, if possible, include a short sample and your deadline so I can better understand what I would be working on.
