Spanish term

se hicieron parte

Spanish to English Law/Patents Law (general) lawsuit
This is potentially quite a straightforward question but I just want to know the exact meaning of se hicieron parte in this context, as it's not clear to me. Does it mean they created their own party/association/partnership? Or they simply became involved?

to enter an appearance

Saludos.

They joined

You do not even need to specify that they "joined in as parties," but simply that they joined in.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Billh : usually you would join in as party but not always eg "NRRA joined in as amicus curiae," http://riskretention.org/government_resources/govt_affairs_f...
