Lead: هو العميل أو الشركة التي تُعتبر "زبون" محتمل عند شركة أخرى، ومصطلح "close" في مجال المبيعات يمثّل اجتذاب ذلك العميل أو ربحه للشركة ليعمل معها، أو ربح صفقة التعاقد مع بعضهما البعض. على سبيل المثال إن كانت شركة تريد نقل العاملين من وإلى العمل، تلجأ إلى شركة حافلات/أوتوبيسات كي تتعاقد معها وتؤجر منها حافلات بسائقين. فالشركة الأولى تعد lead عند الشركة الثانية، وربح الصفقة للشركة الثانية يمثل closing the lead.
