I cannot vote, but would like to add to the discussion. As Alban says, "targetimi" is now widely used as a marketing term, also in newspapers, banks, customs etc. It has been adapted as such in formal publications, not in the attempt to substitute an already existing term (anyone care to disagree?), but to accomodate new concepts. The paralel term whose use is also being experimented with is "shënjestrimi". Time will tell which one will stick, but the fact the "targetimi" is an established term is, indeed, undisputable.

My approach to translation The purpose of translation is to provide a faithful reproduction of the source text in the other language, but of course keeping in mind that first it has to be *understandable* to the target audience, and not sound strange.

Our new era terminology When did internet enter in our vocabulary? And procurement? Tender? Windows? The list is long! I so much love to find the right term, whenever I can, but not up to the point to make the term unrecognizable by periphrasing it or God know what. I am with Rustem when he says that sometimes the technical staff in some offices finds the shortest and easiest way and leaving terms in English, but there are limits.

I would also be eager to hear Rustem's alternative. I would like to believe that by expressing the disagreement one would have either an idea why or alternative. Thanks and regards, Fabiana

Just because it is used in the Albanian marketing circles and governmental institutions does not make it right. As translators we should strive to protect our language by using Albanian words when its possible, and not become a victim of wide spread of usage of foreign words, sometimes without even knowing their exact meaning.
