Poll: Do you think freelance translators are mostly introverts?

just human beings. working by ourselves does not mean being introvert, and our day is made of a loto of contacts anyway.
So it depends on the person. In my opinion the same % of introverts may be found in any office, bank, fast-food, supermarket and so on.

I am most definitely an introvert when it comes to my work - which doesn't mean I don't know how to go out and have a good time with my friends and family, but I do lack the self-confidence to want to make my opinion heard in a professional context. Translation is perfect for me in this respect as I can quietly get on with what I do best and repeat business comes as a result of positive feedback and I don't have to try and sell myself.

I know some translators who are great negotiators, but this is not my case - and it's also why I could never be an interpreter. I have always believed this to be central to the difference between translators and interpreters!
