I started as an in-house translator in an engineering company in Essen in 1978 (leaving reference available). I have been a freelancer now for about 30 years. Most of my current work is with direct customers such as VDI, the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and other institutes. I have translated probably more than 300 guidlines in all technical fields for the VDI, and a considerable number of scientific papers and technical reports for Fraunhofer IST and the WKI. For 15 years or so I have translated all papers and associated items for the VDI's Kunststoffe in Automobilbau conference. Each year I also translate the Fraunhofer IST yearbook.
I have also been a long-term collaborator with a number of leading translation agencies in Germany.
I lived in Essen for about 6 years from 1978 on, and in Munich for another 6 years in the 1990s.
I am also a writer and have my own small publishing company.
My private interests include horse riding, sailing / crewing in traditional tall ships, iyengar yoga, driving my old cars (a 1984 Mini and a 1992 Chevy Blazer 4x4 - the latter sadly recently deceased). |
