English to Russian: Thermally induced pulsatile motion of solids by James G.A Croll General field: Science Detailed field: Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.)
Source text - English Solid objects lying on slopes for which gravity alone would be insufficient to overcome frictional resistance have long been known to experience downslope motions when subject to alter-nations in temperature. This paper will suggest that similar motions are possible in situations where gravity is either absent or even working against the prospective motions. It will be argued that the effects of differential material properties when the solid is subject to alternations of tension and compression, accompanying periodic cycles of high and low temperatures, can also produce motion.

Experience
Years of experience: 52. Registered at ProZ.com: Apr 2008.
I am a retired professional bridge engineer, have been working in bridge design, construction and construction management. At the same time for 46 years, I work as a freelance translator: English-Russian and Russian-English. I live in Moscow and my native tongue is Russian. For more than 12 years I worked among other things for a Russian-language digest bridge magazine entitled in Russian “Мостостроение мира” ("Bridge Engineering of the World") with country-wide circulation, where I was a sole translator of all the articles for the magazine. One could easily find my name in Russian (Е.А. Давидян) written on the front page (next to cover) of every issue shown on the website. Website address of the magazine (in Russian) was: "Фонд АМОСТ-Ассоциация мостостроителей Мостостроение мира". Unfortunately, now that publication ceased to exist due to lack of funds. Besides, I concurrently work as a freelance English-Russian-English translator for several Moscow-based translating agencies, where I have to deal with a variety of subjects that come my way: civil engineering, construction, contracts, civil aviation, politics, general, etc. Therefore. with the above magazine out of print, I am practically a full-time freelancer, available five (under emergency conditions, more) days a week. Generally, daily I can translate from English into Russian on the average some 1500 words, and about 1000 -1250 words, the other way round, all depending on the context, of course.
Keywords: English to Russian and Russian to English translator specializing in design, construction and construction management of highway steel, concrete and composite bridges of all systems, all types of construction in general, civil engineering, the strength of materials, general science, engineering, and technology.
