German term

Für den perfekten Augenaufschlag.

German to English Marketing Cosmetics, Beauty Augenaufschlag
The product is an eyelash growth serum.

I would use "For the perfect bat of the eye", but this is obviously not exactly the same and implies a blinking of the eye rather than one single opening of the eye.

Any suggestions?

Special thanks due to ElliCom - Cosmetics are my passion
- Augenaufschlag is actually...
- Flutter came to mind, but that is not the impression this wants to create
- yes, I thought of something similar... too tired after 3 hours' sleep
Eleanore Strauss Nov 2, 2017:
thanks.. I think sweep captures the idea. Flutter came to mind, but that is not the impression this wants to create - it's about full lashes.. and flutter is not associated with that aspect. As per Phil's comment, it's very much a matter of personal preference.

@ElliCom Thank you, I like "sweep of your lashes"... Or something with "gaze"...
Mariana Rohlig Sa (asker) Nov 2, 2017:
@philgoddard Yes, I've had a look. Was just wondering if there is a given translation for "Augenaufschlag" in this context.
Eleanore Strauss Nov 2, 2017:
Cosmetics are my passion Augenaufschlag is actually look or gaze. To give your eyes a stupendous look. You may need an adjective in addition. Or something like the perfect sweep of your lashes.
philgoddard Nov 2, 2017:
I'm not going to post anything because there are many possible answers and you'll have your own preferences. A literal translation doesn't work, but have you tried looking at English advertising for similar products to get some ideas? "Longer, fuller lashes" is one thing that springs to mind.

For a striking/seductive gaze

Full, dramatic lashes for a seductive gaze
(or striking gaze)

"For a sultry, seductive gaze choose these lashes!"
"...get a striking gaze and flutter-worthy eyelashes to rival..."

For some serious eyelash batting power

Cute phrase I came across while googling this..

I also liked "sparking serious eyelash envy" but that's without the batting. I'd go to bat for the first one.
Peer comment(s):

agree Eleanore Strauss : yes, I thought of something similar... but too tired after 3 hours' sleep ...I would omit the 'power'

disagree gangels (X) : batting power sounds more like baseball than eyelashes

Can't help you there. Phrase speaks for itself. On the other hand, gaze = Augenaufschlag is a bit of a stretch.

For the perfect flutter

As yet another 'miracle' product promises longer, lusher lashes, we show how to fake your way to a perfect flutter

ElliCom seems to be asserting ownership of this question. She has now cast her weight behind 'batting'. The two relevant collations here are:
1) batting an eyelid
2) fluttering one's eyelashes
This is about eyelashes rather than eyelids.

Re your comment in the Discussion box, if you want to incorporate 'gaze', then the accompanying adjective should be 'alluring'
For an alluring gaze
'Striking gaze' is rather weak and 'seductive gaze' is too strong (i.e. sexually inappropriate).

For a camera ready look

A lash serum is usually an oil-based formula of vitamins suitable for your hair/skin. Whoever buys this product shouldn't expect Hollywood results, but rather healthier (=fuller) lashes. [Awkward behavioral psych lecture]... The lashes will be more *attractive*. The owner can further make them seductive with makeup and stuff.

https://www.sephora.com/product/lash-serum-intense-P414108
The Lash Serum is formulated with advanced polypeptides, plus amino-acid rich fortifying biotin and panthenol to promote the appearance of stronger, lusher, more durable lashes. High-performance conditioning agents, plus pumpkin seed extract—rich in essential fatty acids, zinc, and antioxidants—work to nourish, strengthen, and invigorate the lash base to boost the appearance of brittle, thin, or sparse hairs. The eyes are given a lustrous, flirtatious, camera ready look.

For that perfectly seductive glance

captures the meaning fairly well, since Augenaufschlag suggests some mildly titillating intentions. Like Mae West used to chirp when movies were still funny: 'Why don't you come over and SEE me some time',...wink wink
