English term

approach the sacraments

English to French Other Religion
"XYZ are members of the Orthodox Church in good standing and may approach the sacraments if you desire."

It's from a letter that says members XYZ are allowed to take communion. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Discussion

I'm pretty certain the words are the same, but this is in the context of the Orthodox Church, not the Roman Catholic Church. Members XYZ are travelling and will be attending an Orthodox Church in France.

disagree Germaine : on pourra peut-être "s'approcher" pour les recevoir, mais que voudrait dire "s'en" approcher?

communier

It would seem than that non-Catholic Christians, in a case of emergency, may approach the sacraments if they have the correct dispositions and a state of necessity as outlined above. (...)
Some modern parishes are very lenient and willingly offer Holy Communion to an Episcopalian in a false spirit of 'ecumenism'. "
