Working with MIF (V.10) in Trados 2011 and 2007

Hello everyone, we've got a bit of an issue and would appreciate any help.

At our company we use Trados Studio 2011, but many of our translators are still using Trados 2007.

We received a Framemaker (ver 10.0) .mif to translate and were wondering what the smoothest way to handle it is.

Here is what we did:
1) Import the .mif into Studio 2011, then use Legacy Converter to convert the .sdlxliff file to .ttx.

3) Receive the translated .ttx and open within Studio 2011 to check

Having done this, we've found that the "translation status" information is all wrong within 2011. There are translation units that have translations entered, but are set as "untranslated." Likewise, there are also untranslated segments set as "in translation." This is kind of an issue, since we need to go through the translated .ttx to check for untranslated segments, etc.

From what I understand, the best way to handle this is to directly convert the .mif to .ttx using SDL TTX IT!, but this application does not seem to support version 10 .mif files.

Hello,

would it be possible to ask for MIF7 files? We also work with Frame10 and Studio 2011 but provide translators with MIF7 files if they ask for them (but we are, so far, quite "plain" frame users, just a little conditional text and some formatting specials and variables) - it is no extra work for your customer. Depending on what kind of information is included in the Frame10 file, it might be worth asking?

If they say no, well sorry, can't say anything else about the legacy converter or ttx-it, as we have installed Studio 2007 and 2011 and switch between these two if we need to.

Hope someone else has more information.
