I started to look a bit into Transit. Yesterday one project slipped by because I have no experience with Transit.
I have only Satellite PE. I looked through the manual and did some translating too.
Now I would like to know, if it is possible to get a file with only the target, for proofreading. I tried to print the target to a file, but afterwards I could not find the file anywhere. The manual does not say anything about this.

Is there such a possibility or can I only send the bilingual project? I do not want to bother proofreaders with Transit, so if I cannot get a cleaned file I will rather not touch Transit at all.
Thanks for advice!

In Transit PE, you can select not to display tags, etc. so you more or less only see the final text. You can generate a PDF from that (with Adobe Acrobat Professional or the PDF995 freeware). After that, open the PDF file, and copy/paste the text into a Word document. It will look awful but since you are in Word then you will have Word's spell and grammar check functions available to you.

Hi Heinrich,
I have te Satellite PE too and have been using it for a while with some agencies, though I'm mainly a wordfast user

I think the only way to clean a file is to have the complete version and not just the PE. Usually, PMs send me back the final doc for proofreading.
To check spelling I usually run Transit spellcheck first but then copy the target text into a word file to check it again and print the file if I need to. Not the best method but I found no other.
Oh, I forgot to say that the only spellcheck software included by default is English. To buy one for a different language you must contact Star. Working without is a torture!

With Trasit XV Smart, if you have the respective filter, you can export to the "final" translated file (the basic filters come within the basic price).
Regarding spell-checking, the Smart version can use free dictionaries of OpenOffice - you can test them with the PE version as well - it is worth trying. Put the OPenOffice .aff and .dic files of the chosen language in the "Program Files\(Transit XV)\spell" folder. You will have something else instead of "Transit XV", perhaps "Transit PE".
Also, there is a Transit forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/transit_termstar
