Existing licences works with these updates.
I updated, I can't say anything much yet, but I like the new interface VERY much- this alone is a majour breakthrough.

Well, I downloaded it already this morning Aug 7, 2008

I switched on my computer this morning and got the famous blue screen again. I had that horrible blue screen about six times this year on my last computer, before it finally stopped working and I had to buy a new one. I had it again immediately with the new one, and in the meantime have eliminated all possible hardware defects in anything connected with the computer - defective adapter, defective external hard disk, and so on. I had it again immediately with the new one, and in the meantime have eliminated all possible hardware defects in anything connected with the computer - defective adapter, defective external hard disk, and so on. Therefore I was very surprised to get the blue screen again this morning - and absolutely astonished to click on the button for the information what caused it, and be told that it was a fault of Kaspersky.....

First it said that Kaspersky did not yet have a solution to the problem, then it said that there was nevertheless a Kaspersky update. During the process of downloading and installing the update, the computer crashed yet again with the blue screen, however, after a couple of reboots, was working again as normal.

I therefore am not at all sure whether I still like Kaspersky.

I'm a huge Kaspersky fan - been using it for 4 years now. So I updated too - this new version is very user-friendly, seems quite powerful but seems to be using mor disk space when analysing; my pc's never been slower during a Kaspersky analyse!
Another small detail: if you use Spybot Search and Destroy, you'll have to uninstall it first before updating to Kaspersky 8 as they're apparently not compatible. Or are they? The software asked me to remove Spybot first, which was not the case when I updated to Kaspersky 7 at the time.

Very IMPORTANT! Please DO not install it yet! Aug 8, 2008

Few hours after installing I experienced the same as Astrid (with worse results- as I didn't have my Windows installation disk with me at my country place and couldn't restore Windows functionality , I could work only in Safe mode today).

I informed Kaspersky and they are looking at it, but please meanwhile DO NOT install these new versions (or do it at your own risk).

I too am Kaspersky fan and hope they will solve it quickly.

according to answer from Kaspersky, my trouble was caused by some remains of Zone Alarm fighting with Kaspersky. I HAD to uninstall Zone Alarm before proceeding with installation, and did, so... They have not and do not intend to make any changes in this installation because of it, so it is as it is...

So please be very careful if you are using firewalls- just today I tried to install Comodo and it just wouldn't install because there already was KAV...
