Has anyone else experienced these problems? Is there a fix?
Thanks very much!

Dear IATE users,
Unfortunately the IATE site has encountered a few problems in the last
couple of days. These problems appeared after an update of the IATE
servers during Easter weekend.
The typical error message users receive after launching a query looks like
this:
"The proxy was unable to fulfill your request because the computer does
not appear to be functioning properly. While attempting to communicate with
the server, the proxy encountered the following error: HTTP7766: error
reading response header (Connection reset by peer) .........."
Our technical staff detected that the problem is linked to a wrong encoding
of cookies on the IATE user's computers that occurs namely with Internet
Explorer. An immediate workaround is to remove these cookies.
How to remove the cookies from Internet Explorer ?
In the menu, go to "Tools", then "Internet Options", and in the first tab
"General", click on "Delete cookies".
Then close and re-open Internet Explorer. Then, reconnect to IATE.
This procedure can be repeated again later if needed.
In the meantime, our staff continues to work on a definitive solution to
avoid this problem in the future.
We apologize for all the inconveniences caused by this problem.
Please, feel free to contact us for any further question.
Kind regards,

It seems that this time Eurodicautom is down for good, the link now goes straight to IATE--at least for me. But I guess that was just a matter of time.
Harold, if you can't access the IATE, try the direct link: http://iate.europa.eu/iatediff/

Hi,
I think Claudia is right, I also noticed that the eurodicautom search in the Proz WTS was redirected to IATE - unfortunately, it doesn't work from WTS. I guess Proz has to redefine the search function so I hope that it will be working again soon - I liked being able to search the Proz database AND Eurodicautom simultaneously!

Just before Easter, I suddenly found that I could no longer access IATE or Eurodicautom (which was still live at the time).
This coincided with a windows security update - I removed the update from my computer and IATE has been working ever since. I don't have the details of the update, but I received it on 4 April (will find and add later today).

The same thing happened last year with another similar update - only that time it affected Trados, which was out of action for an entire week while I tried to work out what was wrong.
Now, whenever I have strange error messages of any sort, the first thing I do is check to see if there's been a Windows update!!

Yes, I agree lingomania. After several "No matching entries found. Please modify your query" I miss Eurodicautom already...
I also liked the Eurodicautom interface better.

I second that, and go even further .. it's not just a little, it is a lot worse than eurodicautom.
A search for "medium" in EN-FR just gave me that same "nom matching entries" message, while this word has lots of meanings.
I have searched for a a certain number of terms without success. Normally, in EN-FR we still have Granddictionnaire which can be very helpful, but in NL-FR for instance IATE is a real PITA ! Gives the feeling this combination doesn't even exist...
Do you think we can submit a petition to have Eurodicautom back again ?

I'm glad I'm not the only one here that feels that way about IATE. I may be wrong, but isn't IATE supposed to be the OFFICIAL E.U. site for language resources?! | |

I noticed that "no match" comes up all too frequently.....with Eurodicautom that happened about 15-20% of the time.

I am planning on sending the message below to IATE. Any comments?
Dear madam, sir,
Me and several other translators (http://www.proz.com/post/557832#557832) have noticed that Eurodicautom found alot more queries than IATE...
Could you please explain why?
Thanks!
